Eduardo Herrera is heading back to Ibrox to pick up the last six months of his contract.

The Mexican striker was one of the marquee signings of Pedro Caixinha in the summer of 2017 but like Carlos Pena and Bruno Alves he turned out to be an expensive flop.

While the others negotiated a pay-off to get out of Ibrox Herrera has gone out on loan to Santos Laguna and twice to Necaxa. This season he started one match, appeared as a sub 17 times scoring one goal.

When Caixinha brought him to Ibrox he was hailed as a rival to Moussa Dembele but it quickly became apparent that he would join the list of Mexican’s that failed to make any impact on British football.

Unless transfer guru Ross Wilson has some special contacts in Mexico it looks like Herrara will be around until the end of the season to pick up the remainder of his contract.

After picking up his Ibrox pay off Alves has been a regular in Seria A for Parma while Pena has moved around various clubs to no effect.
