There were tears at Hampden today as Steven Gerrard had to console his broken-hearted stars.

For 90 minutes the Ibrox side dominated the match but most of the chances fell to Alfredo Morelos who found Fraser Forster in inspired form.

Early in the first half the on-loan keeper produced a spectacular save high to his right hand side as Ryan Jack looked to open the scoring. After that it was Forster against Morelos with the Englishman coming out on top as Celtic picked up the first trophy of the season.

Time and time again the former HJK Helsinki starlet was put through on goal but Forster was upto the challenge as he blocked everything that was thrown his way.

On the hour mark Chris Jullien left his defensive beat to score from a Ryan Christie free kick after Conmor Goldson had brutally gone through on Odsonne Edouard.

Three minutes later Jeremie Frimpong was sent off for a push on Morelos but Forster was waiting and saved the day with Celtic surviving for half an hour with 10 men to lift their 10th successive domestic trophy.
