Ibrox fans can waken up this morning to the warming news that Olivier Giroud is on his way to help secure #title55.

With everyone in English football hanging on the every move from Steven Gerrard, Gary Mac and Jermaine Defoe it’s only natural that the French World Cup winner will want to lend a hand to the Scottish League Cup runners up.

Giroud has barely made an appearance for Chelsea this season with his Stamford Bridge contract running out at the end of this season.

With wages reported to be around £110,000 a week following his January 2018 move from Arsenal it will take some very creative accountancy to see that deal through.

Last month the 2019 Annual Report from the Ibrox club revealed a £10m funding gap for the current year with stars like Greg Docherty, Jamie Murphy, Andy King, Eros Grezda and Jordan Jones expected to go out on loan to trim the wage bill.

Steven Gerrard is likely to be asked about the Giroud report after today’s match against Kilmarnock and keep a safe distance as he tried to keep stars like Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack motivated with monthly wages less than half of Giroud’s weekly Chelsea pay packet.
