Liam Burt scored one of those did he/didn’t he goals on Wednesday night.

Midway through the first half he was getting forced towards the corner flag by a Queens Park defender with options limited.

There is usually just one escape- the long hopeful ball to the back post but is it a cross or a shot? Burt wasn’t complaining as his effort from a tight angle caught Queens keeper Ques Heraghty at the front post with the ball sailing overhead into the net.

After the break Ben Wylie scored Celtic’s second goal as the hoops bounced back from their Glasgow Cup defeat at Clyde earlier in the season.

This season’s competition involves all five clubs playing home and away with the two SPFL Premiership sides restricted to u-21 teams with two overage players.

On Tuesday Celtic play Partick Thistle at Dumbarton’s stadium.

CELTIC: Hughes; O’Connor, Hendry, Deas, Church; Burt, Connell, Wylie; Harper (McBride 55), Afolabi, Oko Flex
