Karamoko and Hjelde start against Partick Thistle

Five days after making his European debut away to Cluj Karamoko Dembele found himself in more homely surroundings on the bank of the River Clyde as Celtic take on Partick Thistle in the Glasgow Cup.

The 16-year-old returns to Tommy McIntyre’s squad as Celtic look to build on last week’s 2-0 win over Queens Park at Lesser Hampden.

Liam Burt and Ben Wylie scored the goals last week but found themselves on the bench for Matchday Three of the competition which is restricted to under 21s plus two overage players for Celtic with no restrictions on the Thistle side.

Leo Hjelde, the teenager Norwegian signed from Rosenborg in the summer, came in to replace Robbie Deas in central defence with Ryan Mullen in goals instead of Liam Hughes.

Karamoko, as he has renamed himself, and Barry Coffey come in for Wylie and Burt with Jonathan Afolabi given another run as striker.

Kick off has been delayed till 7.15pm.

CELTIC: Mullen; O’Connor, Hjelde, Hendry, Church; Connell, Coffey; Harper, Karamoko, Oko Flex; Afolabi

SUBS: Hughes, Wylie, Paterson, Butt, McGrath, Savoury
