The prospect of Victor Wanyama rejoining Celtic today has gone stone cold with a number of reports claiming that the club has denied talks are taking place.

Throughout the transfer window there has been suggestions that Celtic are interested in the Spurs midfielder but the economics of a move suggest otherwise.

Daniel Levi is one of the shrewdest operators in the game with the Tottenham chief known to get full value from every transfer deal.

Wanyama has barely kicked a ball in anger this season but even so and with 18 months to run on his contract there is no sign of a bargain deal from Spurs to get the Kenyan off their pay-roll.

Picking up wages reportedly of £70,000 a week is required alongside a hefty loan fee. Doubts over the fitness of the 28-year-old appear to make it too much of a risk for Celtic despite the clear connection between the player and Neil Lennon.
