Jonathan Afolabi has joined Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season, according to a report on Radio Scotland at 12 noon today.

The striker joined Celtic in the summer after being released by Southampton and now has the opportunity to get some regular first team action.

Afolabi impressed in a couple of outings for the Celtic reserve side but picked up a hamstring injury on international duty which hampered his progress.

Dunfermline are currently in fifth place in The Championship with striker Kevin Nisbett the highest scoring Scot during 2019.

Just seven points separate fourth placed Dundee from bottom of the table Partick Thistle with a play-off promotion place as likely as automatic relegation for all of the clubs involved.

On Saturday Dunfermline are away to Queen of the South looking to pick up on their 2-0 win over Dundee on Friday.

Ross Doohan, Lee O’Connor and Robbie Deas are both out on loan in the Championship, last week Celtic recalled Stephen Welsh from his loan spell at Morton.
