Fabricio Bruno is on the verge of joining Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino.

The defender has been in dispute with Cruzeiro since they were relegated to the second tier of Brazilian football and went to court to get released claiming that he hadn’t been paid.

Cruzeiro took the unusual step of claiming that the player’s agent had held transfer talks in London over a move to Celtic but he now seems close to joining a different Brazilian side.

Under the headline ‘Cruzeiro sees upcoming solution for Fabrício Bruno’s pending- Player is close to relocating to Red Bull Bragantino, thus forfeiting legal action’ Brazilian publisher Otempo reports:

Cruzeiro is forwarding a solution to the problem involving defender Fabricio Bruno. The player is about to transfer to Red Bull Bragantino.

Celtic’s link to the player came as a surprise with little interest shown in the South American market over the last 20 years.

Bruno would have provided cover and competition to Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien but Celtic will now have to look elsewhere for a new defender.

Jozo Simunovic and Hatem Abd Elhamed have both been training with the first team squad in Dubai but with Neil Lennon looking to bring in 2-4 players this month a central defender is expected to arrive.
