Celtic have been warned off dealing with the agent of Fabricio Bruno as a typical South American transfer tangle unfolds.

According to Cruzeiro talks have already taken place in London about the transfer of the defender but with legal action going on over Bruno’s contract amid allegations of unpaid wages it looks like a transfer is some way off.

Getting the player on a free transfer is bound to be more appealing than paying out a fee with various claims coming in for negotiating the deal.

According to a report in The Sun:

CRUZEIRO chairman Saulo Froes has warned Celtic not to deal with Fabricio Bruno’s agent after accusing him of being ‘wholly unethical.’ The Hoops are still on the hunt for a new defender with Brazilian stopper Bruno on the list.

The 24-year-old is trying to fashion his own exit from the club after accusing his employers of failing to pay him. He took Cruzeiro to the regional court in a bid to rip up his contract and lost, although his lawyers are considering an appeal.

But the Belo Horizonte’s club’s chairman is desperate to keep Bruno and has warned the Hoops not to deal with the player’s agent, Fabio Mello, who was earlier accused of stealing sensitive documents.

Froes said: “The player’s agent is wholly unethical. I would urge all clubs around the world to have nothing to do with him. He took advantage of this club in the past, but my warning for him is that he’s now dealing with serious people at this club who are not there to play.

“There will be respect to the player on our part, but it has to be reciprocal. This agent gave us no respect and we won’t deal with people like that.”

It seems like Celtic could be caught up in a legal dispute between the agent and the club as they attempt to get an International Transfer Certificate.

Cruzeiro appear to be in meltdown following relegation with a new board of directors trying to build a new squad while maximising the fees for established players that they can’t afford in the second tier of Brazilian football.
