Cruzeiro are looking to make a massive 66% cut to their wage bill as they look to find a solution for Celtic target Fabricio Bruno.

The defender has gone to court to have his contract cancelled over alleged unpaid wages and saw a move to Red Bull Bragantino cancelled last week after a change of heart from Austria.

Cruzeiro took the unusual step of stating that talks had taken place in London with Celtic but halfway through the transfer window the Bruno is still on their payroll, or maybe not as he would allege.

90 min.com reports:

According to  UOL , Cruzeiro ‘cancelled’ the established salary cap, but should reduce the monthly payroll from $ 15 million to $ 5 million. For this, Cruzeiro negotiates and studies which athletes will keep for the 2020 season.

The Cruzeiro still studies the situation of three other athletes in the side Orejuela and Edilson and the defender Digão. Initially, everyone should be negotiated. Thiago Neves, Fabrício Bruno, Éderson and David sued the club in court and hardly follow in Belo Horizonte.

Throughout November and December Neil Lennon played Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien in central defence with Nir Bitton the only other option available.

Jozo Simunovic seemed to play a full part in training in Dubai but Hatem Abd Elhamed picked up another knock and will be out for a few more weeks.
