Steven Gerrard will plead with Ross Wilson to give him funds for a new striker- while the Ibrox transfer supremo tries to bring in £10m from deals to see out the season.

On the hour mark of last night’s 2-0 win over Ross County Jermain Defoe went down clutching his calf before being stretchered off.

After the match Gerrard suggested that the 37-year-old will be missing for 2-4 weeks but after four matches in the space of 11 days the veteran could be out for an extended period.

Alfredo Morelos continues to spark worldwide interest but Gerrard is looking to bring in more players rather than plug the £10m funding gap.

The Daily Record reports (I can barely make out what they are saying in the bottom line):

And he admitted he will speak to sporting director Ross Wilson about any potential incomings.

He added: “Possibly. I haven’t spoken to Ross about that yet but we’ve a couple of things brewing besides that so it might alter a few things or make us go in.”

“In general I’m confident we could add. If Jermain isn’t as bad as feared I’m still confident we could add. No officials bids for Jones or Barker that I’m aware of.”

On Saturday Aberdeen visit Ibrox looking to avoid a repeat of their 5-0 defeat earlier in the season.

With two days left in the transfer window Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker, Greg Docherty, Wes Foderingham, Andy Halliday and Jordan Rossiter continue to drain the club with reports that Barker and Rossiter are both being paid around £10,000/week.

After sending scouts to Tynecastle on Sunday it’s believed that Juventus and Roma have cooled their interest in taking Glen Kamara and Borna Barisic to Serie A.
