Leicester City have been linked with a £30m move for Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman has been Celtic’s first choice striker over the last 18 months and is essential to Neil Lennon’s plans for the rest of the season.

Bringing in a new striker to compete with Edouard seems to be Celtic’s transfer priority with a report this morning linking the hoops with Patryk Klimala.

Selling Edouard would be a body blow for the Celtic support with the prospect of him linking up against with Brendan Rodgers sure to rub salt in the wounds.

The Daily Record reports:

Brendan Rodgers is preparing a record-breaking offer of around £30million to lure Odsonne Edouard to join him in England’s top flight.

But Record Sport understands the Leicester City boss will put the eye-watering move on hold until the end of the season with the prolific 21-year-old currently attempting to fire Celtic to a ninth successive league crown.

Former Parkhead boss Rodgers has been advised his old club have no intention of allowing their talismanic striker to leave at ANY price this month

But he is one of a number of Premier League managers to have expressed an interest in making a big summer offer for the Frenchman.

Edouard is in his third season at Celtic after arriving on loan in 2017 as third choice behind Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths. Since the sale of Dembele to Lyon he has been first choice striker under Rodgers and Lennon.

Most Celtic fans expect to see Edouard sold in the summer but in mid-season during a close title race it would be suicidal whatever the transfer fee is.

Celtic paid Paris Saint Germain £9m to sign the striker in 2017 with the French champions likely to have a 10% cut of any sell-on profit.
