Neil Lennon has deliberately played down expectations on Ismaila Soro.

The midfielder is expected in Glasgow over the weekend to complete his transfer from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda after a number of issues were resolved by the selling club.

Many Celtic fans had hoped to see Victor Wanyama come in to add muscle to the side but speaking at today’s media conference Lennon wasn’t setting any ambitious targets.

Soro introduction to team? (4 minutes 43 seconds)

We’ll just give him time to adapt, I think that he could play some games between now and the end of the season.

Soro has been in regular action for Bnei over the last month which should ensure that he has the fitness to settle in quickly at Celtic.

Scott Brown and Callum McGregor have nailed down the central midfield positions over the last few months with Olivier Ntcham and Nir Bitton as back up.

With five of their next seven matches away from home there won’t be any time to gently bed in any new players with little room for error in the weeks ahead.

Two of those matches are on the plastic pitches of Kilmarnock and Hamilton, on two matches so far this season on plastic pitches Celtic won 1-0 at Hamilton but lost 2-0 against Livingston.
