Neil Lennon gave a surprise answer at his media conference today when he was asked about the absence of Boli Bolingoli.

The Belgian was the first choice left-back for the first half of the season but since the winter break that position has been shared by Greg Taylor and Jonny Hayes.

Celtic paid Rapid Vienna £3m for Bolingoli during the summer but the player admitted that he hadn’t spoken to Lennon before signing his contract.

Is there an update on Bolingoli, does he have a slight knock at the moment?

No, he’s just not in the squad at the minute, he’s just having a bit of time out to get his top form back.

Taylor’s performance away to St Johnstone on Wednesday night suggests that he is now the man in possession, after three seasons at Kilmarnock playing on the plastic surface at Hamilton on Sunday shouldn’t be too much of a culture shock.

Playing at left-back or as a wing-back the former Kilmarnock man looked comfortable going forward and tracking back with Lennon expressing his delight at his display.

Celtic are still waiting for word back from the specialist who examined Jeremie Frimpong’s injury.
