Ismaila Soro will undergo a medical in Israel before he can complete his transfer to Celtic.

A deal appears to have been worked out with all parties to allow the Bnei Yehuda midfielder to become Celtic’s second signing of the transfer window.

Last week the transfer seemed to stall as Soro made his ‘second farewell’ appearance but if the medical goes well Celtic will complete their application for a work permit.

The Sun reports:

ISMAILA SORO could undergo his Celtic medical in Israel as he waits for a work permit.

The Bnei Yehuda midfielder was ready to fly to Glasgow over the weekend after a £2million deal was agreed. But Celtic require a visa for the Ivory Coast midfielder, causing a delay in the transfer being completed.

In the meantime, Hoops officials are expected to perform medical checks in Tel Aviv today. That will speed up the signing process should Soro’s work permit application be granted in the coming days.

At some clubs a transfer medical can be routine but as recently as June David Turnbull’s transfer from Motherwell was called off when a serious knee condition was identified. Previously the same issue had prevented Rivaldo Coetzee from completing a move from Ajax Cape Town in 2017.

Soro will have to battle for a place in the Celtic side against Scott Brown and Callum McGregor with Neil Lennon liking his new signing to a bull.

The Ivorian will be available for Celtic’s Europa League squad with Scott Sinclair dropping out for the matches against Copenhagen.
