Lee O’Connor has joined Partick Thistle on loan until the end of the season.

The defender joined Celtic at the end of the summer transfer window from Manchester United and will get the first team football that his career needs under the management of Ian McCall.

O’Connor has been the regular right-back in the Celtic reserve side this season but has experience of playing in all four defensive positions.

Yesterday the Thistle website announced:

Partick Thistle can today announce the signing of defender, Lee O’Connor, on a loan until the end of the season from Celtic, subject to SFA approval.

The 19-year-old Irishman arrives to bolster Ian McCall’s defensive options with experience playing right across the back four.

Thistle are currently in second bottom position in The Championship but have four clubs just three points ahead of them.

On Saturday Thistle travel to play Arbroath who are one of the clubs just above them with McCall taking heart from his side’s display against Celtic in the Scottish Cup.

Fellow Celts Robbie Deas, Stephen Welsh and Ross Doohan are already on loan in the Championship, playing regularly at Alloa, Morton and Ayr United.
