When Celtic beat Aberdeen in December Kris Ajer found himself the unexpected centre of attention.

Soon after Odsonne Edouard had put Celtic 2-1 in front he got back to make a great slide tackle then found himself in possession of the ball close to the corner flag.

Charging towards him was Sam Cosgrove who launched himself towards Ajer who took evasive action to avoid serious injury.

Cosgrove was rightly red carded but amazingly the focus switched onto the Celtic defender with accusations that he had feigned injury.

Aberdeen appealed against the sending off, had it rejected by the SFA then in the early hours of December 26 newly appointed Dons chairman Dave Cormack decided to share his views on the issue.

No apology was offered to the Celtic players, a few days later Cormack reached for the delete button but the damage was done.

Ajer and Griffiths shared some of the abuse normally given exclusively to Scott Brown today but with 81 minutes on the clock the defender got his revenge.

Running the full length of the pitch he was picked out by James Forrest, paused for a moment then placed his shot over Joe Lewis into the net.

Cormack has still to comment on today’s game, Ajer’s goal celebration didn’t need any explanation.
