Martin Keown explained the truth about Alfredo Morelos to a UK audience last night.
The former Arsenal defender was part of the BT Sport team covering all of the Europa League ties.
As the top goal-scorer in the tournament, including qualifying rounds, Morelos is probably the best-known player at Ibrox, he certainly has a higher reputation than £7m winger Ryan Kent.
Against Braga last night Morelos played as if Celtic were the opposition- doing everything to get himself a goal and digging a deeper and deeper hole with his missed chances and horrendous decision making.
Whether someone who has never played a competitive international would get a work permit to play in England is up for debate but the views of one of the greatest English defenders of the last 30 years carries clout among club’s that might think that Morelos is worth checking up on.
Covering Keown on BT Sport last night the Daily Record reports:
He (Morelos) is so important to what they do. We know he’s ill-disciplined. He’s an angry man, love him or hate him that’s the full package.
The angry young man will miss next week’s return leg due to suspension. His third suspension in three months.
Keown was an England team-mate of Steven Gerrard.
