BBC Scotland have extended Michael Stewart’s suspension with the former Hearts man not appearing on Sportscene tonight.

Last Monday Stewart called out Ibrox PR chief James Traynor live on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme with host Kenny MacIntyre almost going into meltdown as he apologised to his former BBC Scotland colleague.

A formal apology was read out at the start of Tuesday’s programme with Stewart put on a five-day suspension which ruled him out of Thursday’s Sportscene and their weekend coverage of the Scottish Cup.

Now the situation has escalated with The Sun, who have Stewart as a columnist, reporting:

MICHAEL STEWART’S BBC suspension has been extended into next week following his row with Rangers PR chief Jim Traynor.

SunSport understands the former Hearts and Hibs midfielder will NOT feature on tonight’s Sportscene.

James McFadden stepped in to partner Steven Thompson on last night’s show with the spotlight on the broadcaster who seem to be digging their feet in.

Stewart is also a regular on BT Sport, if his deal with the BBC is cancelled he could put in a claim or expose some of the secrets of their Glasgow based operation.
