There was a fresh new look to Sky Sports’ coverage of the Aberdeen v Celtic match with John Hartson and James McFadden providing analysis alongside host Eilidh Barbour.
Over the last couple of seasons, the two not so Special K’s of Boyd and Commons have come in for criticism for their criticism!
Boyd in particular has managed to upset viewers with his constant negativity, earlier this season he was adamant that there are no great players in Scottish football- the platform that he now earns a living from through his media commitments.
No one is looking for fake news but the SPFL has helped develop 50% of the Liverpool defence that is about to win the EPL title, even at the bottom of the table Teemu Pukki and Kenny McLean are doing a turn at Norwich City.
During Sky’s last Celtic match, away to Kilmarnock in January, Boyd managed to become the story as he took aim at Leigh Griffiths without acknowledging the issues that he has had to deal with over the last 12 months.
Sky Sports are currently the subject of an Ofcom complaint from Celtic which is likely to see both sides in discussions behind the scenes.
Boyd, who was on Sky Sports for their midweek offering from Hamilton v Aberdeen, is the subject of online speculation over the reasons for his absence from today’s production.
Next season Sky has exclusive rights to SPFL football which throws up two options. With the field to themselves they could scale back their presentations or go to town poaching the best pundits from BT Sport to give their coverage a very fresh look.
Sun is shining at Pittodrie! Aberdeen v Celtic coming up on @ScotlandSky. 11.30am with these two lads. Come join us #SPFL #AFC #Celtic pic.twitter.com/5RoeKKyXLp

Big bad John is a massive improvement on that clown monster munch Boyd ?

That was a far better show today, shows what can happen when you have people that want to talk up the game instead of using the platform to be negative & controversial for the sake of it. Hopefully the beginning of change at Sky Scotland.

At least you can have a decent conversation and debate with John and James unlike Boyd the Rangers puppet!

Delighted with the fact that we did not have to endure dumb and dumber, Kris Commons and Kris Boyd today at Pittodrie.
I’d rather sit and watch my dog cleaning his anus with a used Brillo pad than tolerate those two cretins. #ABECEL
