Odsonne Edouard believes that Celtic’s December derby defeat has done the team more good than harm!

On the back of 11 straight wins in the SPFL Premiership Neil Lennon’s side went into the December 29 clash looking to extend a five-point lead into eight.

At the end of 90 minutes Steven Gerrard was screaming into the Sky Sports cameras, the lead was down to two points with a game more played with a month of hysteria and title claims about to pour out of Ibrox.

Celtic faced a transfer window looking for ‘over-ready’ first team players to slot in alongside Scott Brown to fend off the most serious title challenge they’ve faced in the last eight years.

It was all doom and gloom for the green half of the city but the magic of Dubai did it’s trick with the hoops winning five out of five SPFL Premiership matches and a game away to St Johnstone from reaching the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Looking back at the final match of 2019 Edouard told The Sun:

That defeat against Rangers actually did us more good than harm. After it we had to question ourselves, but once we returned from Dubai we knew we had to bounce back. We knew it would be hard to do that, but right now it’s going really well.

Seven wins on the bounce, six of them away from home while Gerrard’s side struggle to deal with the pressure has put Celtic back in the driving seat with Edouard leading from the front.

Celtic have been scoring three goals a game since the winter break with their young French striker looking to continue the winning run tonight at home to Hearts.
