Celtic showed the character of champions to come from behind to beat Hamilton 4-1 today.
Yesterday’s stalemate at Ibrox piled the pressure onto Steven Gerrard but only if Celtic took advantage by securing full points from their trip to the bottom placed side in the SPFL.
The plastic pitch at Hamilton is never a friendly surface for flowing football with the homeside taking the direct route when Marios Ogkmpoe opened the scoring with a 26th minute header from a corner.
Celtic were level 10 minutes later with a brilliantly executed free kick from Odsonne Edouard but Hamilton defended resolutely deep into the second half.
Ryan Christie, Jonny Hayes and Tom Rogic were all thrown on with the changes paying off in the 78th minute when Chris Jullien showed a striker’s instinct to send a Christie shot into the net to the relief of the away support behind the goal.
In the closing stages Edouard and James Forrest added to the scoring giving Celtic a seven point advantage to take to Motherwell on Wednesday night.
