After anticipating a thrilling ‘Old Firm’ title race during the first weeks of January the tone of Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme has taken a dramatic turn.
Night after night the ability of Neil Lennon and the quality of his squad was debated as they faced ‘their toughest ever challenge’ from Steven Gerrard’s rejuvenated squad at Ibrox.
Celtic were two points clear but had played a game more, after the winter break they faced tough trips to Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Aberdeen while Gerrard’s men barely had to leave Ibrox.
A few weeks later and Celtic are 12 points clear to the disbelief of the regular pundits on Sportsound.
Praise for Celtic is rarely heard but the inquest into the downturn at Ibrox is similar to the post mortem after Scotland have failed to qualify for an international tournament.
Last night Kenny MacIntyre was joined by Tom English and SFA Communications Manager Darryl Broadfoot to share their thoughts.
‘I think nine is gone. Celtic, they’re going to get nine. I think they’ll get 10 comfortably’
What, if anything, can Rangers do to stop 10 in a row?

English:
I thought that they had learned their lessons, certainly it looked like they had at Celtic Park. What Rangers have done is maybe feel the pressure, maybe complacency has set in. Maybe they think this is job done and their big players have evaporated.
Broadfoot:
If there is no silver lining and by that I mean the Scottish Cup then the questions will come ‘Do Rangers have what it takes to stop ten-in-a-row.
In the next round of SPFL matches Celtic travel to Livingston while Hamilton Accies visit Ibrox.
