Odsonne Edouard was preparing to start primary school when Henrik Larsson at his Celtic peak.
At every level the Swede delivered, domestic cups, derby matches and in Europe he scored the goals that brought Celtic success while being the perfect team player.
There was no dressing room jealousy about his ability and success, just admiration and respect mixed with delight that he was on their side.
Apart from heading ability Edouard can be compared with Larsson with the bonus that he only turned 22 last month. Larsson joined Celtic just short of his 26th birthday.
The legend of French Eddy is developing month by month with the striker fully focussed on delivering more goals and trophies to create a legacy that can be compared with the Swedish icon.
Speaking to The Sun Edouard said:
Henrik Larsson is a Celtic legend. When I was little he was one of the best players in Europe so it’s amazing some people compare me to him. I don’t know what the future holds, but I want to try to become one of the best strikers in the world.
Today I’m at Celtic, I’ve got two years left on my contract, I’m very happy here in Glasgow. I’m enjoying myself. I’m more focused on the five months left this season and the three trophies we are competing for.
After being given the weekend off Edouard will lead the line for Celtic tonight against Hearts, the side he scored a double against in May to clinch the Treble Treble.
