John Hartson has held his place in the Celtic scoring charts for over a decade but finally on Wednesday he had to make way for Leigh Griffiths.

The Welshman scored his final Celtic goal, number 110, back in 2006 before moving on to join West Brom.

Scott McDonald threatened to overtake him but left for Middlesbrough, Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper threatened but fell short of reaching 100 with Kris Commons suffered a similar fate.

Griffiths reached 100 in August 2018 but throughout 2019 there were plenty of doubts over whether he would still be a Celtic player when the decade ended.

At Partick Thistle in the first game of 2020 Griffiths opened the scoring, since then he has kept his place in the side and netted three more goals with his strike at Fir Park taking his total to 111.

Like all Celtic fans Hartson is hoping that there will be many more to come, hopefully in May the Welshman will be congratulating Griffiths and his current team-mates on winning a ninth successive league title.
