Michael Beale has revealed that his three match touchline ban is for calling Kevin Clancy a cheat.

The Ibrox coach was hit with the ban on Thursday with the club refusing to comment, usually such actions are met with a statement of intent to reassure fans that the club is picked on and victimised by the SFA.

There has been little comment on the matter with the only reportage suggesting that a three match ban with a further two suspended was harsh for what seemed like a fairly routine touchline clash between coaches. ‘Handbags’ was a common comment.

Beale is fairly regular on twitter with almost 60,000 followers but appears to have let slip some unwelcome detail about his suspension to the Mail on Sunday.

Picking up on the story the Daily Record reports:

Beale told the Mail on Sunday: “I called the referee’s integrity into question and have accepted that I could not not accuse him of cheating. The incident with John was nothing and is now resolved.

“We have a long-running relationship from 2011 when I visited Scotland to educate coaches for the SFA in my Chelsea days. There is no animosity between us at all.”

Last season the Ibrox club issued a statement about Willie Collum having issues with their matches, the FIFA listed referee was taken off matches involving Steven Gerrard’s club for six months.
