Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed were pictured at Celtic’s training session this morning- increasing Neil Lennon’s defensive options.

Bitton picked up an injury 10 minutes into the Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle on January 18 while Elhamed hasn’t played since the Europa League win away to Lazio in November.

Two more defensive options will be a welcome boost as Celtic switch between a back three and four with Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien unable to be rested for the Scottish Cup tie against Clyde.

Jozo Simunovic and Stephen Welsh have both played in a back three in recent weeks with the return of the Israeli’s giving Lennon further options in that part of the team.

Although signed as a midfielder in 2013 Bitton has barely played in that position over the last few years with Lennon having a number of options for those positions.

Callum McGregor is expected to step back into the starting XI to face Hearts leaving the Celtic boss with some big decisions to make over Olivier Ntcham, Ryan Christie and Moi Elyounoussi.
