Image for Lennon reveals return of injured defender for Copenhagen tie

Jozo Simunovic is available for Celtic’s Europa League tie against Copenhagen tomorrow night.

The defender missed the weekend win at Aberdeen and seems unable to play twice in a week despite undergoing knee surgery earlier in the season.

Nir Bitton replaced Simunovic at Pittodrie with the return to fitness of Jeremie Frimpong giving Lennon another option in defence.

The return of European football means that Celtic will be involved in three competitions over the next fortnight with the Celtic likely to use the full depth of his squad.

Speaking to the Glasgow Times Lennon said:

It’s a big ask with the amount of games we are playing as well, but Jozo (Simunovic) will be available for the Parken and that’s a bonus. We had Nir Bitton back at Pittodrie and (Jeremie) Frimpong will be available for the first time in the competition as well.

We are just worried about Greg Taylor after he came off in Aberdeen at the minute. We want to see how he is. We might mix it up a bit, we’ll see.

Lennon has switched between a 3-5-2 formation and the regular 4-2-3-1 since the turn of the year while maintaining a 100% record in 2020.

Taylor’s injury is likely to force one change with Jonny Hayes the more likely replacement even though Boli Bolingoli was the regular left-back during the Europa League group stage matches.
