Leo Mazis has joined Italian side Triestina Calcio.

The 19-year-old spent two years at Celtic but never made any in-roads towards the first team with the lack of regular reserve matches hindering his progress.

Coming from Brisbane Mazis was close to Tom Rogic but despite settling in Scotland he has accepted the offer to join the Serie C Italian side.

Last season Celtic took part in the Reserve League but with just 17 fixtures it was difficult for players to develop.

At the start of this season Jack Aitchison, Stephen Welsh, Robbie Deas, Daniel Church and Ross Doohan all went out on loan with Conor Hazard, Lee O’Connor, Jonathan Afolabi and Grant Savoury going out on loan last month.

According to the report on the Triestina website Mazis was signed as a free agent which would only be possible if his four year Celtic contract had been cancelled in January.

Celtic haven’t made any comment but the story on the Triestina website and the players’ Instagram profile confirm that he has moved on.
