The petition to reinstate Michael Stewart on BBC Scotland has hit it’s target of 10,000 supporters.

The former Scotland midfielder appeared on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme where the discussion about Alfredo Morelos moved on with Stewart questioning the role being played by Ibrox PR guru Jim Traynor.

Programme host Kenny MacIntyre nearly freaked out at the repeated mentioning of Traynor who was a key presenter with the state broadcaster until 2014.

On Tuesday night Sportsound opened up with an apology to Traynor, the following day Stewart was dropped by Radio Scotland from their coverage of Hearts v Kilmarnock. BT Sport took advantage by bringing Stewart in for their live coverage of Motherwell v Celtic.

James McFadden stepped in to replace Stewart on Thursday’s edition of Sportscene with the petition launched on Friday to reinstate Stewart.

The petition can still be signed with all eyes on BBC Scotland to see if they call on Stewart for Thursday’s Sportscene or whether they will continue with the less than dynamic double act of Tommo and Faddy.
