Michael Stewart followed news from Celtic Park last night with an air of resignation.

Last week the former Hearts midfielder had a close up view of Neil Lennon’s side as they took Motherwell apart with a 4-0 scoreline that flattered the homeside.

Motherwell are 23 points ahead of Hearts, the Fir Park side have won eight matches this season with the Jambos winning a miserable three times in the SPFL Premiership.

The bookies called it right with Celtic rated a 1/7 shot as they piled the misery on Hearts with a 5-0 rout.

Joel Pereira had a miserable night in the Hearts goal. He must have ability to join Manchester United but his loan spell at Tynecastle has destroyed his confidence. It’s a learning experience that he could do without.

The keeper flapped at an Odsonne Edouard shot for Celtic’s first goal and appeared invisible as Chris Jullien headed in the second from a corner.

The only good news for Hearts from last night was that they won’t face Celtic again this season in the SPFL… but there could be a fourth clash in the Scottish Cup.
