Neil Lennon is hoping to have Jeremie Frimpong back in training on Thursday.

The young defender has been missing since he was stretchered off at Kilmarnock following a dangerous challenge from Alan Power in the closing minutes.

Referee Don Robertson decided to take no action but after six minutes of treatment on the pitch at Rugby Park Frimpong has missed Celtic’s last five matches.

Stephen Welsh, Jozo Simunovic and Moritz Bauer have all played on the right of the Celtic defence but if Frimpong returns to the form he showed in December he is likely to be the first pick in that area of the team.

Did Frimpong train this week?

He has just about finished his rehab, hopefully he’ll train Thursday with the rest of the squad

Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed returned to training today with Moi Elyounoussi and Ryan Christie playing from the start on Sunday away to Clyde in the Scottish Cup.

Frimpong was left out of the Celtic squad for the group stage of the Europa League but alongside Ismaila Soro and Patryk Klimala for the knock out stage with Celtic playing in Copenhagen next Thursday.
