Neil Lennon has revealed that Scott Brown suffered a calf injury during Celtic’s 1-1 draw away to Copenhagen in the Europa League.

The Celtic skipper was replaced by Nir Bitton after 73 minutes shortly after being booked for a crunching challenge as Copenhagen started to turn the screw on the visitors.

Speaking at the post match media conference Lennon said:

Obviously we lost Browny to a calf strain so we will have to see how that is as well.

Six minutes after Brown was replaced Copenhagen were awarded a penalty after a VAR decision went against Ryan Christie with the yellow card ruling the midfielder out of the return leg through suspension.

Fortunately, Fraser Forster saved the penalty from Jens Stage with Celtic seeing out the game without going behind with James Forrest forcing a good block from goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson as Celtic chased a winner.

Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring for Celtic in the 14th minute but Dame N’Doye equalised seven minutes into the second half.
