In the space of one night Odsonne Edouard boosted Celtic’s title bid, lifted his goal tally to 24 and earned comparisons with Denis Bergkamp and Henrik Larsson while two former Manchester United players stated that he’d walk into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side!
It was quite a night for the striker who turned 22 last month but who finishes with the poise of a veteran with the exception of that uncharacteristic miss late on against Hamilton on Sunday.
Apparently Celtic faced a tricky run of SPFL fixtures after the winter break but 15 points and a welter of goals from five matches, only one of them at home, have reinforced the case for Neil Lennon’s side as favourites for the title.
Edouard’s partnership with Leigh Griffiths has been heavily responsible for the improved form with Gordon Strachan in awe of the recent displays from the former Paris Saint Germain prospect.
Covering BT Sport’s coverage last night The Sun reported Strachan saying: “He reminds me of Bergkamp. He can do all the things at Bergkamp could do at probably a younger age.”
Sutton claimed that Edouard was the closest that he has seen to Henrik Larsson while Michael Stewart and Strachan agreed that the young Celt would go straight into the current Manchester United side.
