Odsonne Edouard is the Celtic player that Stale Solbakken fears more than any other.

The Copenhagen boss has watched Celtic closely since the turn of the year as he prepares to halt their 100% record in 2020 when the two clubs meet on Thursday night.

As well as being Neil Lennon’s top scorer Edouard is also a key team player as his role in the two goals against Aberdeen illustrated.

Whether he is on his own or alongside Leigh Griffiths the former Paris Saint Germain prospect brings Celtic’s play together as Solbakken explained.

The Copenhagen boss told the Daily Record:

Celtic are not a one-man team – but you’d always say Edouard is the main threat. He’s probably their best individual player and he’s also their biggest match-winner but overall they’re dangerous.

They’ve found a rhythm now with the 3-5-2 system. They have a good mix in their side. They’re in a good place and have picked up real momentum. I’ve seen that.

Tomorrow night in the Danish capital will present Lennon’s side with their toughest test since they returned from their training camp in Dubai.

Domestically it has been the glut of fixtures that has provided the threat but the return to European football will provide a different challenge.

Copenhagen don’t appear to be a better side than Lazio or Cluj but the switch from group matches to knock-out presents a different challenge as the hoops look to progress to the last 16 of the Europa League.
