Celtic fans were delighted by the way that the club has handled their row with Sky Sports.
Slipping in an apology an hour before kick-off on Wednesday night was the actions of a company that knew that they were in the wrong but at lunchtime on Thursday Celtic’s responded with a heavy-weight blow.
The row has escalated to Ofcom which puts the whole Sky operation in the spotlight with direct questions asked rather than a general request for an explanation.
Perhaps the biggest shock of all was at the bottom of the statement where Peter Lawwell made it known that this was direct from his office.
For over a month Celtic fans were subjected to the unchallenged claim that Morelos had been racially abused.
The claim was given a 48 hour boost at the start of the week thanks to Sky Sports but that story has backfired badly thanks to the words of the striker. Throughout his interview he didn’t make any reference to Celtic or the far fetched ‘Game Over’ gesture after being sent off.
Sky Sports are now in the spotlight. Next season they have exclusive coverage of live SPFL Premiership matches, unless someone senior makes

You’re right. That statement has the stamp of legal expertise all over it. There’s no escape for Sky. They have to admit who included the slur on Celtic.

Excellent Celtic, standing up for us all ?
The lack of broadcast apology or even mentioning our statement is quite shocking and perhaps telling ! Don’t let this lie please ?— Neil (@NRKBhoy) February 6, 2020
