Hugh Burns has claimed that there is unrest inside Ibrox over events that went on in Dubai during the club’s winter break.

Eight points dropped since the euphoria of winning at Celtic Park in December has left Ibrox fans in a deep state of shock as they come to terms with the likely loss of another title.

When Steven Gerrard screamed into the Sky Sports cameras at Celtic Park all was happy and glorious with the world but yesterday at Murray Park he looked like an entirely different person as he snapped back at the media.

Accepting that the players aren’t as good as they are hyped up to be is difficult for fans to accept with much of the blame being put on the winter break.

Last year the trip to Tenerife was followed by a title collapse on their return with Gerrard wanting to do a Celtic this year by going to Dubai.

The gulf state has become a Footballers Playground in recent years with even no-marks like Josh Windass and Jason Cummings acting as if they own the place with their social media clips from Dubai.

Gerrard is a regular visitor to the Emirate but whatever effect he was hoping the break would have seems to have backfired.

Burns amused Celtic fans two years ago with his ‘Whits the goalie daen Tam’ classic piece of commentary, after the defeat to Kilmarnock he spilled the beans with Bill Young on RockSport.

Talking Football, 13/02/20 42 min 10 seconds

Burns: You get to know wee things that go on and what have you, and the Dubai thing, it couldnae get any worse than last year. They get close to Celtic they come back, we were at the game (Kilmarnock away last January) we watched Worrall give the ball away and they never came back from it.

That was it, Déjà vu, exactly the same has happened again.

I’m led to believe that something happened in Dubai, behind the scenes, that’s what I’m hearing, and you know my source. I’ve heard that things went on in Dubai that shouldnae have gone on and there is a bit of unrest there just now. And you can see it, there is no togetherness

BIG BILL YOUNG: It’s not something that I’ve heard. The only thing that would worry me about that, knowing the way that Steven Gerrard is, and we’ve seen that way that Steven Gerrard is and we know the type of professional that he was as a player I would be very surprised if anybody would think that they could take liberties with Steven Gerrard

BURNS: Well I don’t know if it was just with the manager in particular, I think that there were things that went on that shouldn’t have gone on. You know, when I heard about it, it seems to be doing it in circles around the city just now, and in strong sources.

Livingston visit Ibrox this afternoon with Gary Holt looking for the win to put his side in contention for third place.
