A report in The Sun has claimed that Jackie McNamara is ‘awake and talking’ after being admitted to Hull Royal Infirmary.

Yesterday afternoon word emerged that the former Celtic defender had collapsed outside his home in York over the weekend and rushed to hospital.

His daughter tweeted asking for people to respect the privacy of the family but, without giving any source, The Sun has issued a very upbeat bulletin on the 46-year-old.

CELTIC hero Jackie McNamara is “awake and talking” after being rushed to hospital with a suspected bleed on the brain. The 46-year-old was left fighting for his life after collapsing at home at the weekend.

His condition at Hull Royal Infirmary was described as “critical but stable” earlier today. But it is understood that he has since come round and has been communicating with family and medical staff.

Former team-mates were in a state of shock yesterday as word got out about McNamara being hospitalised.
Across social media names such as John Hartson, Chris Sutton, Stan Petrov and Henrik Larsson expressed their shock while supporting Jackie and his family.

Tonight’s news is hopeful but bearing in mind the families wish for privacy it’s best to wait for word directly from the McNamara family.
