Since Michael Stewart was banished from the sofa the focus has been firmly on BBC Scotland’s Sportscene programme.
James McFadden and Malky Mackay have filled in over recent weeks, tonight the producers called in Neil McCann to join his old Ibrox team-mate Steven Thompson to share their views over the weekend fixture card.
Despite their continued 100% domestic record in 2020 Celtic didn’t feature in the top spot even though there were 60,000 inside Celtic Park to watch Neil Lennon’s free scoring side.
Thompson and McCann looked in pain as they discussed the action from Perth as Steven Gerrard’s side dropped more points in the title race. The keenly contested battle for top spot that built up in the first half of the season has virtually evaporated with Celtic stretching their lead almost on a weekly basis.
The mood of the pundits hardly picked up when the second match was screened. Celtic’s excellence was reluctantly acknowledged, no mention was made of the champions being without Scott Brown and James Forrest
In comparison with BT Sport the debate and discussion on Sportscene is incredibly bland, with no sign of a return for Stewart there is little analysis of interest in-between the highlights.

@BBCSportScot Why is there a 41 year old man wearing woman’s skinny jeans and a back-to-front jumper on Sportscene? It’s a bit disturbing.
