With a print circulation of around 15,000 the Scottish edition of The Times doesn’t have the greatest of international resources.
Almost anything happening south of Ecclefechan is generally left to their Wapping based colleagues who have the backing of one of the best resources’ media operations in the business.
If there is a story to be had budget considerations usually take second place to digging out the story.
Dave King’s alleged hold up. It’s in every Scottish paper but none in South Africa. Strange.
Hard not be paranoid about every story linked to Ibrox but is this just Operation Distract From Translategate?

Despite their limited resources the Queen Street branch of The Times has scooped everyone else with their story and quotes from Dave King about being held up and robbed at gun-point. The incident happened last Monday.
A google search of well-known names in Scottish news circles sometimes throws up an unlikely story from foreign publishers but in this instance, there has been no coverage over the last week in the South African media about the attack on the Ibrox chairman.
As well as getting details and King’s reaction to the ordeal he also told them that he is now considering leaving South Africa after over 40 years in the country.
Later this week Craig Whyte will publish his book ‘Into The Bear Pit’ which has already thrown up stories about how the media has been manipulated from inside Ibrox.
