The honeymoon is well and truly over for Steven Gerrard, his time in charge at Ibrox could be over in a week if he loses out to Braga and Hearts over the next six days.
After consoling themselves that they were watching an EPL legend at work the truth is finally emerging about the shortcomings of a rookie manager.
Similar tactics, favoured players and predictable substitutes paint a depressing picture for Ibrox fans who arrived at 2020 convinced that they were on course for a title success.
Using their logic they had outplayed Celtic twice in December, been robbed of a League Cup success with justice extracted at Celtic Park as Mr Gerrard roared his delight into the Sky Sports cameras.
The false dawn of January 2019 was still fresh but going to Dubai rather than Tenerife was part of the masterplan. When the fixtures resumed Gerrard’s side would turn Ibrox into a fortress while Neil Lennon’s side crumbled on the road.

Reality hasn’t been kind to Gerrard or the fans. The gap at the top is lengthening on an almost weekly basis, the excuses offered up by the manager aren’t washing.
At one stage Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha were hailed as visionaries, now it seems only a matter of time before Gerrard joins them in the scrapheap having failed to halt Celtic as they march towards a ninth successive title celebration.

When we going to hear him being sacked? It’s because he’s Steven Gerrard that too much of our fan base don’t criticize him enough. He’s a terrible manager. Every team in the league as figured him out and realised he only knows how to play one way, forcing us to play back

Getting a bit sick of teams scoring like 2 from 3 chances recently. Total dross suddenly finishing like good players. Meanwhile we need 10/12 chances for 1 goal. Thats the problem right there

Tavernier has hid 4 times this season from post match interviews on the telly after dropping points. Why is our Captain a complete chicken?

Nowhere near good enough. Another season where we simply threw the league at Celtic without so much as a whimper.

It’s you that picks the team and the tactics/formation. Teams are finding that easy. How and why do you not understand that SG?! Don’t chuck the team under the bus that YOU pick. F****n coward. Aye there is defensive howlers, every game. Nothing has changed since last season
