Scott Allan has revealed that he got a phone call from Scott Brown to sound him out about moving from Hibs to Celtic in the summer of 2015.

The midfielder had enjoyed an outstanding season at Easter Road under Alan Stubbs with a very public campaign underway to take him to Ibrox in a cut price deal.

Hibs made it clear that they wouldn’t do business with their Championship rivals despite pictures being dragged up of Allan in his primary school days kitted out in Rangers gear.

Celtic moved quickly to complete a deal- with Dylan McGeouch and Liam Henderson (on loan) moving to Hibs but only after Allan had passed the Broony Test.

Speaking to Si Ferry on Open Goal he admitted:

Broony had phoned me and I had a long conversation with him on the phone. So that must have been about a week before it actually happened. It was the question, ‘Would you come here?’.

Allan made fleeting appearances under Ronnie Deila without coming close to establishing himself at Celtic.

Once Brendan Rodgers took over he found himself sent out on loan to Rotherham, Dundee and Hibs before signing a pre-contract agreement last year to return to the Edinburgh side.
