Shane Warne congratulated Australia’s Women’s team on winning the World Cp but it was his choice of clothing that caught the attention of some.

New Balance may be about to see their Celtic contract expire but the cricket legend gave them a surprise endorsement on social media.

Warne can earn fortunes from promoting brands on social media but as he paid tribute to the Aussie women it was a Celtic training top with luminous logos for New Balance and Dafabet that he reached for.

Growing up in Melbourne, the city that produced Scott McDonald and Jackson Irvine, the young Warne played football before concentrating on cricket.

From 1992 to 2007 he was the face of Australian cricket in both Test matches and One Day Internationals before winding down playing 20-20.

Since retiring he has turned to media work with his place in the Cricket Hall of Fame booked in 2013 but clearly when it comes to soccer his heart is in the east end of Glasgow.
