Stephen McGowan has highlighted one overlooked factor about resuming the current league season in August or September.
The summer transfer window is one of the major drivers in the football industry. Resuming the current season after the window reopens on June 9 would give clubs a third chance to strengthen their squad for the SPFL title.
If current season resumed in August…
Failing clubs with bigger budgets have a month of the summer transfer window to spend more money than poorer rivals to try to buy their way out of their current mess in final games.

With the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic changing on a daily basis there is no indication of when football will resume.
Tomorrow UEFA are expected to announce that Euro 2020 will be delayed which in theory frees up June for rescheduled fixtures but that timescale looks highly ambitious.
With no certainty over when football will return the only logical move is to declare the current season over based on current positions.
That decision, expected to be backed by the UK Government decision to ban mass gatherings of over 500 people, will allow the SPFL to pay out prize money based on current positions while clubs call in their Insurance policies.
