With his company in turmoil Dave King is keeping ominously quiet about matters at Ibrox.

His last appearance in Scotland was at the November AGM where a number of key announcements were made.

After four and a half years as chairman the South African based businessman announced that he was stepping down as chairman with an accompanying claim of fresh investment through a new share issue.

Three months down the line King remains as chairman with no sign of a prospectus with only Alex Rae aware of new money coming into the troubled club.

With next season starting in four months the Ibrox club has still to find a kit deal as they await the result of an expensive claim from Sports Direct for breach of contract. Hummel are also expected to put in a claim for after having their three year deal cut short by 15 months.

Picking up on those issues in today’s Daily Record Keith Jackson asks:

Given that Dave King is meant to be stepping down as chairman this month, there seems to be an alarming lack of clarity and strategy off the pitch as well as on it.

Back in November when King first announced his time was nearing an end, it was widely anticipated that he was walking away at the behest of potential new investors. Talks with one Scots-born individual based in the Far East were believed to be at an extremely advanced stage.

And yet three months on nothing much continues to happen other than more exorbitant legal disputes and Morelos’ mood swings wiping millions off his own market value.

The declining value of Morelos is probably the least of King’s concerns.
