The EPL is considering a bizarre plan of keeping players in hotels in a bid to blast their way through the remainder of the season in six weeks.

After three blank weekends- for fans and television companies- the prospect of the current season being completed appears to be lengthening.

As well as Sky Sports and BT Sport the EPL has lucrative broadcasting contracts worldwide that effectively underwrite everything that they do.

Continued disruption to those contracts- regardless of the circumstances- puts those deals in doubt with the knock-on effect having far reaching consequences.

Discussing one proposal to keep the show on the road/screens The Sun reports:

PREMIER LEAGUE stars could be BANNED from going home and forced to live together so football can kick off again in June.

Top-flight clubs, players and the PFA are desperate to finish the campaign — even though the remaining fixtures would be behind closed doors.

And that could see the squads of all 20 teams staying at separate locations — with no chance of going home to their families  — until the season is finally over.

Keeping a team isolated as a unit would make it easier to prevent the pandemic from spreading.

Players who have played at international tournaments would be used to the set-up, as they stay together in one hotel and only leave to train and play matches. This solution could last for about six weeks, with the aim to complete the Prem by July 12.

So far UEFA have expressed a wish that domestic seasons are completed before June 30 but with each passing day that seems less likely putting next season’s Champions League and Europa League in major doubt.
