Celtic fans were delighted with news from UEFA that their preferred outcome is for domestic leagues to be completed.
The summer European Championships has been put back 12 months freeing up the whole of June to complete domestic fixtures- if sport is given the all clear from Coronavirus.
That remains a big IF but today’s decision does rule out the prospect of 30 games being declared null and void as at least one Scottish club hoped for.
Neil Lennon stated at a media conference that if the season was brought to an end he expected Celtic to be declared as the Scottish champions.
Some interpreted that as his wish, it was simply an answer to one scenario with the clear wish of everyone at the club to complete the programme of 38 fixtures.
Celtic have three matches left to play before the split which will force the SPFL into overtime as they attempt to schedule fixtures that suit TV companies with probably less than a fortnight between the last pre-split fixture and the first top six matches.
Clubs, fans and the associations will now monitor the impact of the Coronavirus closely in the hope that they get to see their team in action in under three months.
Excellent news 9 in a row on to 10.
