Andy Walker told Sky Sports viewers that Alfredo Morelos couldn’t get over the pitch during his side’s 1-0 win away to Ross County.

The expanding waistline of the striker has become almost as much of a talking point as his lack of goals.

Morelos hasn’t scored in the SPFL since December with his club’s prospects of winning a trophy effectively over before the end of February.

After missing matches due to SFA and UEFA bans Morelos missed the Scottish Cup defeat from Hearts due to a club suspension with his transfer value falling by the week.

Steven Gerrard restored the striker to his side for the matches against Hamilton and Ross County but again Morelos drew a blank before being substituted by Nikola Katic in the closing minutes of yesterday’s narrow win.

Covering Walker’s commentary The Sun reports:

Speaking on the 70th minute mark, he said: “I’m looking at Morelos, Ian. I rarely see him run. I rarely see him looking sharp. I just wonder if he’s carrying a few pounds. He can’t get over the pitch!”

Sky commentator Crocker jokingly replied: “I know that feeling.”

With Jermain Defoe suffering a sore leg Gerrard only has Morelos and loan star  Flo Kamberi to choose from for the striking roles against Bayer Leverkusen and Celtic.
