Ibrox fans have reacted with fury to news that Boris Johnson is set to confirm Celtic as SPFL champions.
The UK Prime Minister spent yesterday briefing his favourite newspapers about new measures to combat the spread of Coronavirus with the issue of sport coming up under ‘mass gatherings’.
As recently as Thursday Boris Johnson held back from cancelling football but by lunchtime on Friday the SPFL, SFA, EPL and EFL had all called off their weekend fixtures. In Scotland it was until further notice while the English authorities are planning to resume fixtures on April 4.
That seems wildly optimistic with the main issue being Liverpool getting declared as Champions. Promotion and relegation to the EPL will become a minefield.
In Scotland Celtic will be declared as Champions holding a 13 point lead with eight matches left to play.
While Ibrox fans are reacting furiously to this announcement the loss of five home fixtures alongside legal actions from Sports Direct, Hummel/Elite and Memorial Walls and an acknowledged black hole of £10m puts the very future of the company in serious danger.
