Nathan Young-Coombes has joked that he would rather spend a year in lockdown than play for Celtic.

The 17-year-old is tipped for big things at Ibrox and has been included in a couple of first team squads this season without making a competitive appearance.

Last night the UK and Scottish governments announced virtual lockdown conditions with everyone urged to remain indoors in a bid to combat the spread of Coronavirus.

Despite the unprecedented restrictions placed on everyone outside of the Health and Emergency services Young-Coombes felt that lockdown was something worth joking about.

Football has been hit as hard as any industry in the country with the national sport suspended from March 13.

While Young-Coombes jokes about lockdown players at Hearts are looking at pay cuts of 50% with Aberdeen warning yesterday about the impact of outgoings of £1.2m a month with little in the way of income.

Football and humour are important parts of Scottish life, essential in these tough times but with the whole country facing hardship some jokes are best kept private.
